Global Atomic Quiz: an international quiz for World Science Day
About the project
Global Atomic Quiz is an annual international educational project that introduces audiences to the fundamentals of nuclear physics, shows how nuclear technologies shape everyday life and explores the role of nuclear energy in protecting our planet.
The quiz is available online and in person in more than 16 languages.
In 2023, the project took first place in the Science for the World category at the 9th All-Russian Fidelity to Science Award.
Scale and complexity
The challenge was to give everyone an equal opportunity to take part in the quiz at the same time. To achieve this, we had to:
- create an engaging design for an international audience, build the project website in 16 languages and ensure unrestricted access worldwide;
- develop nuclear-themed questions at multiple difficulty levels;
- plan and deliver advertising campaigns across multiple countries.
In several countries, we also held the quiz in person for school pupils and university students, with experts and hosts taking part.
The winners received valuable prizes.
Results
- More than 46,000 people from 106 countries took part in the quiz online. In-person events attracted an average of 200 participants each.
- 100 winners around the world received prizes.
Total reach, including follow-up communications, exceeded 100 million people.
